What is a kamikaze drone

A kamikaze drone is an unmanned aerial vehicle designed for combat use. Its main feature is that when performing a mission, it hits the target with a munition that is placed on the quadcopter itself. It is a kind of “flying projectile” that delivers explosives directly to the target and detonates on impact. Thanks to modern guidance systems, such drones are characterized by high accuracy. They are equipped with cameras that transmit real-time video to glasses or a screen. This allows the operator to perform tasks even at a great distance.

Types of kamikaze drones

The devices are divided into several size groups:

  • 7 inches. They are characterized by better maneuverability and quick response to operator commands. Suitable for quick strike missions, such as the destruction of personnel and enemy hideouts. To achieve compact size, they use small 10,000 mAh batteries. Because of this, such drones have a shorter flight time.
  • 9 inches. Nine-inch models are characterized by better stability and can operate even in difficult weather conditions. Due to the larger size of the propellers, their flight is smoother. They can carry a heavier warhead, so even vehicles can be destroyed with these kamikaze drones.
  • 10 inches. The largest of this series of drones. Thanks to large propellers and a 15000 mAh battery, they have high energy efficiency and can stay in the air longer. They can carry a heavier warhead to effectively work on enemy equipment and other targets. In addition, they can fly over much longer distances.

Components of Hunter kamikaze drones

The main components of such UAVs include:

  • Control system. The stack (flight controller and speed controller) is responsible for the stability of the drone and flight control.
  • Camera and video transmitter. Thanks to high-resolution cameras, operators can see the battlefield in real time. Video transmitter with frequency from 4.9 Ghz to 6 Ghz ensures stable communication even over long distances, and the 1.2 Ghz frequency is also used.
  • Additional equipment. Additionally, at the request of the military, we can install GPS, an initiation board and a thermal camera on the UAV.
  • Batteries and engines. UAVs are equipped with powerful batteries (from 10000 mAh to 15000 mAh) that provide stable power. And high-traction engines allow them to reach speeds of up to 140 km/h with a load.
  • Propellers. Kamikaze drones can be equipped with different sized propellers. This parameter, among other things, affects the carrying capacity and maneuverability of the model. Copters with 10-inch propellers can carry loads of up to 2.5 kg, 9-inch propellers – 2 kg, and 7-inch propellers – 1.5 kg.

  • Reliable frame. The frame of these UAVs is made of durable and lightweight fiberglass. It is flexible enough to customize and improve the Ukrainian kamikaze drone. This structural element can have different diameters. Thanks to this, powerful engines and propellers can be installed on it, which ensure maneuverability and flight stability.

  • Communication range. Transmitter power affects the range and quality of communication. Modern copters can maintain a stable signal at a distance of up to 20 km, which is critical for combat operations.
  • Battery capacity. The flight time and range are determined by the battery capacity. For military drones, batteries with a capacity of 10,000 mAh to 15,000 mAh are optimal, providing a flight duration of 15 to 20 minutes with a load. The flight duration also depends on weather conditions.
  • Flight altitude. This parameter depends on the weight of the model, engine power, and battery capacity. A modern kamikaze drone can operate at an altitude of 5-7 km.
