Drones for the AFU

Drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine are an important component of successful combat operations. They help to increase efficiency and reduce risks for the military. Thanks to the use of drones, the military can conduct surveillance from a distance, monitor the situation in the combat zone, and carry out targeted attacks on enemy fortifications, manpower, and equipment.

Modern drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have a wide range of functions, a long flight time, and can carry loads of different weights. The devices are characterized by their reliability, ease of use, and ability to perform a variety of tasks.

They are most often used for the following missions:

  • reconnaissance and monitoring of enemy positions, obtaining images from designated locations;
  • dropping ammunition (high-explosive ordnance or other munitions) on enemy equipment, positions and communications;
  • organization of communication over long distances via secure data transmission channels.

The main purpose of military drones is to quickly transmit data on the location of the enemy and its equipment, as well as other useful information. Some models have special mounts for different loads and can be dropped on the operator’s command.

What drones do the military need

Military UAVs are divided into different categories, depending on their technical characteristics and purpose.
The following models are currently available for order:

  • Intelligence. Designed for intelligence gathering and monitoring. They are characterized by a long range and altitude. They can be equipped with a conventional or thermal imaging camera, which allows for surveillance at any time of day or night and in any weather.
  • Strike drones. A combat drone is equipped with a special drop system and explosives. Such devices are designed to carry out targeted attacks on the enemy, its fortifications and equipment.
  • Logistics. Military quadrocopters of this type are used to deliver simple cargo (e.g., provisions, water, ammunition, etc.) to personnel positions. They are capable of flying to places where infantry cannot reach or an ATV cannot drive.
  • Communication drones. These models of drones for the military provide stable communication in conditions where traditional means are unavailable or ineffective.

A wide range of products allows you to choose the best option for specific tasks.

How to choose military drones

Because of the variety of models, today you can buy a military drone of any type. But there are several key parameters to consider when choosing one.
Namely:

  • Purpose of use. Different models are designed to perform different tasks. Therefore, the first thing to decide is the purpose of use. What kind of drones does the Armed Forces need the most: reconnaissance, logistics, strike, etc.
  • Flight range. Drones differ in flight range. Smaller models can cover a distance of up to 12 km, while larger ones can fly up to 25 km.
  • Flight time. This parameter depends on the battery capacity. The more charge the battery has, the longer the drone for the Armed Forces can stay in the air. Our UAVs use 10000-15000 mAh batteries.
  • Payload. When choosing combat and logistics models, special attention should be paid to their payload capacity. For example, Hunter drones can carry loads weighing 1.5-2.5 kg, depending on their type and size.
  • Image quality. It is important that the operator who controls the UAV monitors it without interference and time delays. Therefore, when choosing a military drone, attention should be paid to the frequency of the video transmitter, its power, and the type of signal.
  • Communication reliability. Another important characteristic is the communication protocol. Modern drones usually use the ELRS protocol. It ensures high efficiency, minimal transmission delays, and the ability to operate over long distances.
  • Resistance to weather conditions. A copter for the Armed Forces must be resistant to moisture and wind. Choose models that can fly in rain, snow, and bad weather.
  • Navigation and control systems. To effectively perform tasks at any time of the day or in fog, a quadcopter for the military must have reliable autopilot and auto-return systems.
  • Resistance to interference. An unmanned aerial vehicle must be resistant to interference from enemy electronic warfare systems. Our company offers to buy a drone for the military with its own USMTR communication protocol. The use of LoRa and IFR technologies allows you to maintain reliable communication even in conditions of strong electronic interference.
  • Price. The cost of products depends on the type and characteristics of the copter. Kamikaze-type FPV drones for the Armed Forces are considered the cheapest, as they are disposable and used for targeted destruction.

Technical characteristics of Hunter military drones

Here is a look at the key characteristics of military drones from the USMT:

  • Dimensions. Our range includes drones of different sizes. Smaller models (7-8 inches) are characterized by better maneuverability and faster response to pilot commands. They are suitable for quick strike operations. Larger drones are used by the Armed Forces to carry heavier loads and strike at enemy equipment.
  • Speed and maneuverability. Hunter drones can reach speeds of up to 140 km/h and are highly maneuverable. This makes them ideal for performing tasks in difficult conditions.
  • Camera and video transmission. Each of our FPV drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is equipped with high-resolution cameras that transmit video in real time. The range also includes models with a thermal imager for monitoring positions at night or in difficult weather conditions.
  • Range and autonomy. You can buy military drones from USMT that can fly up to 20 km. They are equipped with high-capacity batteries, as well as powerful transmitters and reliable communication channels.
  • Communication protocol. The USMTR secure protocol with LoRa and IFR technologies ensures stable communication even in difficult conditions.

How much does a drone cost for the AFU

The price of a military drone in Kyiv is directly related to its functionality and purpose. Kamikaze quadcopters are considered the most affordable, as they are designed for one-time use. Their cost starts at 15 thousand hryvnias.
In general, the price of a drone for the Armed Forces depends on the following parameters:

  • flight range;
  • time spent in the air;
  • payload;
  • camera quality;
  • additional features, etc.

The most expensive drones in our range are bombers with a thermal imaging camera and the USMTR protocol.
